"In Europe, everyone sleeps on linen," says Karina Sotnik, the owner of weeks-old Linu Boutique
(1036 Pine St. (215-260-8547)), Latvian by birth, Sotnik returned with her family to her homeland a few
months ago, and came up with the idea of showcasing the Baltic's primo flax products in a market where
linen is a luxurious commodity. Little Linu - which means linen in Latin - shows off artisan-made shawls,
scarves, tablecloths, runners, placemats, tea towels and, of course, super-soft, allergy-safe sheets,
pillowcases and duvet covers - at half the price you'll pay for the same soft goods at most American
boutiques. The petite shop also stocks earth-tone Germain ceramics, natural candies by Vince Kittera,
and Buroland's exfoliating body and face products made with sun-dried pink salt from the Black Sea.
