We sadly said adieu to Monique Messin earlier this year, when the Rittenhouse retailer hightailed it back to France. But then we walked over to Linu, on Pine Street, and we were happy again. Here the linens are linen; breezy, natural, faintly modern but easily blended into any decor. Owner Karina Sotnik buys hand-woven table linens and hangings from the Baltics, then creates hemstitched tablecloths in warm pastels and, on a custom basis, gorgeous and gauzy draperies.
